Joe tells the story of how a player came to a game wearing baseball cleats. The referee said you can’t play with a metal cleat on your shoe. You can not play or you have to change your shoes. The player did not have another pair of shoes and really wanted to play. The players father came to the rescue and permanently removed the metal cleats, just leaving the rubber cleats in place. The referee approved of the equipment and the player was able to enjoy playing in the game. Morale here – rules are to be enforced by referees.
